Delivery Specialist

With $9 billion in sales, OfficeMax is the industry leader in selling office solutions to Fortune 500 companies. Our Houston Distribution Center is looking for a high-energy individual to join our team as a Delivery Specialist.


This position is responsible for the daily delivery of customer orders. Duties are to be performed in a professional, productive, time sensitive and customer-sensitive manner according to the following:

-Deliver product to customer locations.
-Collect and track customer returns.
-Operate delivery vehicles in a safe and lawful manner
-Responsible for vehicle and its contents.
-Communicate customer feedback to sales and/or supervisory personnel.
-Contribute ideas and suggestions for improvements.
-Complete appropriate paperwork.



The array of problems encountered in this position are generally anticipated and understood. Errors are detected and actions to resolve them are determined and acted upon as appropriate. The associate receives infrequent generalized direction pertaining to definite objectives. To meet the objectives requires the employee to plan his/her own work and referring only unusual cases to others. The work, not subject to audit or check, requires considerable responsibility to function independently and to ensure accuracy, timeliness and completeness.

This position continually interacts with customers. In this role, an associate must be sensitive to customer requirements and perceptions.

REQUIREMENTS

Class B CDL, only required for operating delivery vehicle exceeding 26,000 lb. GVW. 1 to 3 years delivery experience. Stable work history. Knowledge of DOT regulations. High school education or equivalent. Basic product knowledge. Ability to lift single cartons up to 60 pounds. Ability to use manual pallet jacks to move pallets of products up to 2,500 pounds. Knowledge of operation of power/mobile equipment. Ability to understand addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division. Ability to communicate both verbally and in writing, using the English language. Geographical knowledge of the delivery service area. Ability to read and understand a map. Ability to upsell.
