Delivery Services Manager IV - Columbus, OH

Position Summary



Delivery Services Manager levels are based on location sales. The Delivery Service Manager is responsible for the Location's entire delivery function for both private fleet and third party carriers. The Delivery Service Manager insures the location's objectives regarding customer service level and delivery costs are achieved.



Position Responsibilities



Ensures customer delivery services issues are resolved.
Ensures special delivery processes (i.e. desktop, location, scheduling) are working effectively for customers.
Total quality responsibility for customer satisfaction of delivery service.
Meets with new and existing customers and assist with the implementation of delivery service and sales/marketing programs.
Monitors and develops daily delivery service routes.
Adjusts routes on a daily basis to balance delivery volume, to provide driver efficiency, in reaction to customer service changes, and to meet delivery time commitments.
Assigns proper laydown codes for carrier routing and sortation.
Reviews routes periodically to determine the most cost-effective routing structure.
Oversees vehicle maintenance that is performed by third party sources or leasing companies.
Secures additional vehicle support equipment when needed.
Reviews, verifies and authorizes all equipment invoices for payment.
Prepares and analyzes operating cost reports.
Collects operating data.
Prepares accident reports and accident reviews.
Develops customer delivery expectation files and delivery route books.
Evaluates and selects third party carriers and negotiates all contract agreement terms in coordinated effort with OfficeMax Headquarters Transportation.
Manages the inbound carrier services for the distribution center.
Makes operational decisions to ensure customers are receiving products at high service levels while maintaining low costs.
Selects and negotiates vendor contracts.
Works regularly with Distribution Center general management and OfficeMax Headquarters Transportation to provide effective delivery services.



Constant contact with delivery specialists and contract carrier drivers and customers.
Supervisory responsibilities include: develop work assignments, review work performed, approve vacation/leaves, conduct performance reviews, recommend salary actions, and take direct disciplinary action.
Working conditions consist of a distribution/warehouse facility.

Position Requirements



Transportation background with five or more years experience within a small package delivery environment requiring high customer service or an internal OfficeMax Associate with high exposure to OfficeMax distribution knowledge.
College degree or equivalent experience.
Problem solving, team leadership skills and decision making skills.
Customer Service focused.
1-2 years supervisory experience.
Detailed knowledge of the Location's distribution center service territory geography.
Good oral and written communication skills with the ability to interact with Delivery Specialists, Associates, and Customers.
