CDL Truck Driver Class B License

Gilchrist Construction Company is now accepting Class B Commercial Driver’s Licenses, with an air brake endorsement. You will be working in our Tandem Fleet and have an option of remaining in this position, or after a period of six months, which shall include classroom and in-the-cab instruction and evaluation, you will be given an opportunity to upgrade to a Class A Commercial Driver’s Licenses. It’s your choice.

Our drivers are responsible for driving diesel-powered trucks in the transportation of construction materials. This job will primarily consist of on-site vehicle operations involving positioning and moving trucks on and between work project sites and maintenance facilities.

REQUIREMENTS
Essential duties and responsibilities INCLUDE THE FOLLOWING. Other duties may be assigned according to organizational needs, and individual’s skills and experience.

• Safely operates company owned and leased trucks to facilitate completion of construction projects
• Backs trucks/trailers in and out of dumping areas and loading sites
• Maintains all required certifications required by DOT, OSHA and company safety programs
• Inspects truck for defects before, during, and after trips and reports any discrepancies indicating truck condition to supervisor
• Provides required before-, during-, and after-operation “user maintenance” reports as applicable
• Follows up with supervisor about flats, repairs, defects, and other maintenance observed and/or reported on truck
• Keeps truck clean (inside and out)
• Greases truck weekly
• Maintains and protects all property entrusted to you in excellent condition
• Provides outstanding customer service during delivery and pickup operations for project teams
• Turns in accurate timesheets/logs each day

•Ability to operate equipment in a safe manner at all times
•Ability to make State-wide runs, and work on projects State-wide as required by project needs
•Ability to work up to 70 hours per week during high-peak project times

PHYSICAL ASPECTS OF THE POSITION:

•Must be able to lift 50 lbs. repeatedly and up to 100 lbs occasionally.
•Must be able to work in severe weather conditions; both heat and cold
