Assistant Sales Manager

Position Summary: Responsible for the safety and overall profitability of the Division, including sales, warehousing, accounting and public relations.

In conjunction with Sales and/or Division Manager, provides onsite direction for these Essential Functions:
•Assist Sales Manager with the recruitment, training, coaching, leading, guiding, scheduling and evaluation of talent, as well as act in Sales Manager’s absence
•Guide and monitor all aspects of product procurement, warehousing, remanufacture, sales, distribution and accounting functions individually as well as through effective delegation of authority
•Oversee the management of customer and product selection, credit approval and sales promotions in Sales Manager’s absence. Utilize customer and market segment planning to manage growth in sales and profits combined with continuous improvement in working capital management and operating efficiency
•Provide Capital Lumber Company management a timely understanding and interpretation of operating results and critical personnel, customer and supply issues, industry trends and forecasts and insure customer needs are being satisfied
•Insure implementation of practices and procedures necessary to provide adequate internal control within Capital Lumber Company to safeguard its assets, achieve accuracy and reliability in the accounting and financial reporting and adherence to prescribed managerial policies
•Assist the Sales Manager with the preparation of an annual business plan with the recommended capital expenditures, personnel requirements and salary and wage administration required to support the plan and to achieve Capital’s goals
•Assist in sales as required
•Perform other work related duties as assigned by your supervisor and be flexible and adaptable to changes that will occur during the course of employment
REQUIREMENTS
Education, Experience and Skills Required:
•Bachelors Degree in Business Administration, Finance or related field, or equivalent education or experience
•Five years experience in wholesale lumber industry, strong leadership qualities, proven experience in supervising and managing sales staff and operations personnel, commitment to confidentiality in dealing with company records, policies and other information
•Strong verbal, written, analytical and interpersonal skills and the ability to rationally analyze minor to major issues and make decisions accordingly, good working knowledge with PC
•Able to provide hands-on leadership to improve profit performance and operating efficiencies
