Gerson Lehrman Group, Inc. (“GLG”) is searching for an accomplished Web Application Development Manager (C#/.NET) to join our software development team. Candidates must have proven experience of personally managing teams through successful delivery of new software products and enhancements to production software. We are an independent primary research firm providing a diverse set of clients – most prominently, the global financial services industry, but increasingly, healthcare, technology and other sectors – with access to a proprietary and global network of experts, and the software and services used to engage these experts for primary research and consulting.

The successful Development Manager will manage high visibility projects and guide these efforts from conception through delivery. You must be a highly skilled & motivated individual that can adapt and learn quickly. You will manage a team of 5 to 7 software engineers dedicated to building new products or enhancing our production software. You will work with our Product Management team to prioritize features, write functional specifications and manage the development process of delivering enterprise scale distributed software.

Responsibilities:
Ability to fully understand and define scope of technical software projects
Leading project planning and kickoff sessions
Ability to produce work estimates and timeframes for development tasks
Assign and oversee development of design documents and unit test plans
Interface with Product Managers to prioritize tasks
Create functional specifications of software features
Ensuring quality of software through standards enforcement, peer code review and automated tools
Manage and review specifications, technical plans, and progress from developers

Expected Background
Degree in a computer science, engineering or related area
6+ years of relevant progressive software development experience, including 2+ years of Project Management experience
Experience managing web application projects that are client- or consumer-facing, rather than internal
Hands-on experience managing multiple software development projects at a time
Excellent communication, written and verbal skills with all levels
Strong time management skills
Highly motivated with keen ability to motivate others on team
Skilled in building relationships with clients and technology peers
Strong knowledge of Object-Oriented Design, analysis and programming
Knowledge of application design patterns and frameworks
Strong web development skills (HTML, JavaScript, DHTML, XML and XSLT)
Strong experience with Microsoft .NET development technologies (C#, ASP.NET and the .NET framework)
