Telecom WAN Architect

The primary responsibilities, actions and outputs include:
Provides overall direction, guidance and definition of in the areas of architecture, validations and strategy for International Paper’s domestic and international Global Data Wide Area Networks (WAN).
Manages WAN architecture to effectively support the corporate business strategy.
Researches, analyzes designs, proposes, and delivers solutions that are appropriate for the business and technology strategies.
This position has overall responsibility for planning, design and implementation of International Paper’s IT enterprise WAN architecture across all businesses.
Development of future WAN Telecommunications Architectures and Strategies and technology business applications.
Research and analysis of new and Emerging WAN Technological
opportunities in IT using Global Enterprise Wide Vision.
Leads the application of WAN technologies (Carriers, Telcos, Circuits, MPLS, WAN Protocols, V/D Convergence, etc…)
Ensures alignment of WAN data services with converged Voice services in cooperation with Enterprise Architecture and EDS.
Provides WAN technical expertise/strategy in the facilitation of Telecommunication related Request for Proposals (RFP).
Validation and final sign-off/approval authority on all Telecom WAN related recommendations, designs, and/or proposals.
Supports Service Delivery Manager – Data on technical issues

EY ACCOUNTABILITIES:
Lead efforts to ensure Support & Process Development is engaged with all areas of improving ITTS operations in the application and use of WAN technologies and services.
Work with ITTS personnel in each operational area to develop a scope and understanding of WAN Telecommunication services.
Ensure alignment of all Telecommunications WAN related department functions to achieve the highest level of operational effectiveness.
Lead the documentation efforts and ensure implementation and utilization of standardized processes and procedures.
Create internal Telecommunications processes and procedures that are a value added service to ITTS
Work with EDS to document and integrate processes between ITTS and EDS
Establish uniform benchmarking metrics across all Telecommunications organizations
Work with the TC lead team to develop key metrics
Work with EDS to develop key metrics
Lead efforts to align Telecommunications operations with quality managed ITTS Services.
REQUIREMENTS
KNOWLEDGE AND EXPERIENCE:
Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology.
Must have 7-10+ years experience with WANs in Information Technology.
Must have significant International Paper business knowledge.
Must be able to significantly contribute in other Telecom technologies (i.e. Voice, Wireless, Wi-Fi, LAN, Cellular, VoIP)
Demonstrate skills in customer and vendor negotiations, conflict management, and decision quality.
Demonstrated ability to write clear, concise business communication at multiple levels (management, technical, user).
Proven ability to listen and understand others and to professionally communicate in written and oral forms at multiple levels of leadership.
Serves as the interfaces across multiple business areas, acting as visionary to proactively assist in defining the direction for and application of existing and future WAN technology business projects.
Have strong communication, interpersonal, technical architecture & strategic experience, understands the business requirements, ability to communicate technology concepts to the business owners in a clear concise manner.
