JOB DESCRIPTION

Looking for mid-level MS Windows & Unix Systems professional. Will be responsible for managing a Hierarchy Storage Management system to manage disk space and to retain data for set periods of time set by the Records Management team. Will work with other departments to ensure their data is being retained for set periods of time. This person will also work with the Intel & Unix server teams to manage the large amounts of growth of disk space on particular servers. Work with end users and other IT professionals will be required. Furthermore, this person will also work on the tape backup system as a peer to two others. Provide daily tape backups and restores along with implementing new technologies and systems around this environment

Desired Qulifications
Sun Solaris knowledge and experience (versions 8 and 9 required, 10 desirable)
Microsoft Windows 2000, 2003 server knowledge and experience
Symantec (Veritas) NetBackup datacenter knowledge and experience (version 5.1)
SUN (Storagetek) Application Storage Manager (ASM) version 4.0 knowledge and experience
Experience with storage equipment (tape silo's, disk arrays, SUN servers, HP servers, fiber channel
Detail-oriented

Additional Information

Analyzes and designs technical solutions to address business needs. Troubleshoots systems to increase quality of systems. Identifies, investigates and proposes solutions to technical problems. Develops, tests, and modifies software to improve efficiency of internal operating systems. Provides technical support for issues surrounding software/hardware failures and the like. Monitors server performance to maintain consistent up time. Provides technical expertise where required within Information Technology Projects. Prepares and maintains necessary documentation. Other duties as assigned.


Systems Engineer I, X21 - Typically requires a Bachelor's and 0 - 2 years of directly related experience. Limited use and/or application of basic principles, theories, and concepts. Basic knowledge of programming and systems analysis and related applications.


Systems Engineer II, X22 - Typically requires a Bachelor's and 2+ years of directly related experience. Full use and application of standard principles, theories, concepts, and techniques. Working knowledge of programming and systems analysis and related applications.


Systems Engineer III, X23 - Typically requires a Bachelor's and 4+ years of directly related experience. Broad application of principles, theories, and concepts in applicable discipline, plus extensive knowledge of other related fields. Extensive knowledge of programming and systems analysis and related applications.
