Systems Design Engineer

We have an immediate opening available for a Systems Design Engineer with a Bachelor's (B.S.) and/or a Master's (M.S.) degree from a four-year college or university in Mechanical or Precision Engineering; or equivalent combination of education and experience. The candidate should possess excellent Pro/E mechanical design skills and have 10+ years of industry experience. The candidate must have a solid working knowledge of Precision Engineering principles, including precision machine design, position measurement systems, and precision motion error compensation methods. The candidate should have experience designing, analyzing and measuring system vibration to achieve demanding vibration control specifications. The ideal candidate should also possess proven experimental design, execution, and data analysis skills. Position may require occasional travel both domestically and internationally.
Primary Role: Researches, plans, and designs mechanical and electromechanical products and systems, and directs and coordinates activities involved in fabrication, operation, application, problem solving, and validation of mechanical or electromechanical products and systems by performing the following duties.
REQUIREMENTS
Relevant duties and responsibilities include:
•Researches and analyzes data such as customer design proposal, specifications, and manuals to determine feasibility of design or application.
•Designs products or systems such as mechanical, thermal, hydraulic, or heat transfer systems.
•Develops machine architecture concepts based upon solid Precision Engineering principles.
•Develops machine architecture concepts to achieve demanding vibration suppression requirements.
•Performs subsystem and system level test plan development, execution and analysis of results.
•Develops subsystem critical parameters to achieve high level system functions.
•Develops interface specifications between subsystems to assure system components function properly as a system.
•Plans and directs engineering personnel in fabrication of test control apparatus and equipment, and development of methods and procedures for testing products or systems.
•Perform or outsource vibration analysis and experimental modal analysis to ensure system level vibration solutions.
•Directs and coordinates fabrication and validation activities to ensure products and systems conform to engineering design system level and subsystem level specifications.
•Coordinates operation, maintenance, and repair activities to obtain optimum utilization of development machines and test equipment.
•Designs products and systems to interface machines, hardware, and software.
•Evaluates field installations and recommends design modifications to eliminate machine or system malfunctions.
Supervisory Responsibilities: Occasional supervision of lab technicians. No direct reports.
