Full Job Title: System Engineer (Design & Specification) - DEED Skills Management Title Systems EngineeringJob Level: EXEMPTBusiness Component: Integrated Defense Systems (IDS)Job Description: This position is with the Missile Defense National Team. The desired candidate will support architecture development and the development of Ballistic Missile Defense System performance, communications, and logistics requirements. This position plays an active role in both leading and assisting junior engineers in identifying, defining, modeling, and analyzing System-of-Systems (SoS) level capabilities as part of the system level requirements analysis process. In addition the candidate will initiate portions of requirements specifications and the allocation of resulting requirements to sub-system elements as well as monitor and establish traceability of their developed requirements. Other duties will include participating in the planning, identification, analysis, development/modeling, and product/system design work for complex SoS level requirements including integrated logistics support, information exchanges, interface control, and network configuration efforts. Provide briefings on their developed requirements and associated processes and respond to other customer inquiries. Some travel may be required; typically not more than 3 to 4 days per month on average. Competencies REQUIRED: Knowledge of system life cycle support to include logistics and communications. Ability to analyze guidance/concepts documents and formulate requirements statements, participate in technical resolution meetings, and to contribute to various Integrated Product Teams (IPTs). Ability to identify, define, model, and justify system requirements. Good communications abilities both written and oral. Be organized, tactful, and possess the traits necessary to work in a team environment are required. At least five years experience in systems design and integration, with experience in systems requirements development. PREFERRED: Systems engineering analytical skills and experience in definition, design, support, and development of BMC3, radar, and/or missile fire control systems, communications, or software. Experience with DOORS, Unified Modeling Language (UML) and System Architect. Background in air/missile defense (e.g Aegis BMD, Ground Based Mid-course Defense [GMD], Terminal High Altitude Area Defense [THAAD], PATRIOT, Battle Management, Command, Control, Communications [BMC3] systems, X-Band Radars) a plus.
