Our Investment Bank is one of the world’s top global investment banking and securities firms, providing a full spectrum of products to institutional and corporate clients, intermediaries, government and hedge funds worldwide.The UBS Investment Bank based in Stamford, Connecticut is seeking a Application Support Analysts to support FIRC (Fixed Income Rates & Currencies) GSD (Global Services Delivery) applications. The Banking Products GSD team supports a number of trading and risk-management applications used by the global Banking Products (BP) businesses. The GSD team is responsible for overall availability of the applications and controls deployment/releases, contingency planning and maintenance of applications in production. The team is represented in Stamford, London and Hong Kong, mirroring the presence of UBS Investment Bank’s Loan trading and management desks. The applications we support are used for pricing, structuring, trade entry, risk management and risk control of all Loans and loan related products traded by UBS Investment Bank. The successful Support Analyst candidate will be technically inclined and demonstrate an interest in the Banking Products business. They will work closely with IT Development and Production Services teams to ensure application stability and to manage new releases and must be able to prioritize tasks, report status and manage projects independently. GSD is often the first point of contact when the business requires a technological solutions, the applicant should be able to deliver these rapidly whenever feasible, this requires familiarity with various scripting and programming languages. Similarly, automation of release process and application management tasks requires a broad and deep knowledge of various technologies. When necessary, the applicant is expected to provide preliminary analysis for longer-term projects that will require significant expense and effort.Senior team members are expected to represent their teams in technical committees and during infrastructure planning. They are also expected to help evaluate new technology and manage projects.The role requires excellent communication skills and the motivation necessary to work in a fast-paced trading environment. The ability to master new technology, and effectively adapt knowledge and skills is absolutely essential. The BP business uses a wide array of technologies; our systems and infrastructure are expected to evolve rapidly in response to changing market needs. The current application suite includes both in-house and third-party applications that utilize Unix, Windows, Sybase, Oracle and various forms of middleware.Key Targets & Objectives of Roles:Client Minimize risks to the BP workflow by developing redundant, failure-tolerant systems architecture. Plan and manage the global deployment of new applications or infrastructure enhancements. Prepare and deliver training and presentations to colleagues, other IT teams, and the business. Manage the impact of infrastructure problems so as to ensure business continuity. Use technical expertise, creative analysis and knowledge of BP business processes to answer queries and solve problems.People Collaborate on projects with colleagues in various different teams across the world. Recruit, train and mentor new team members.Economic Many systems are mission critical (i.e. essential to UBS Investment Bank's participation in the global markets), maintaining uptime is a priority. Control risks and costs within own area (e.g. through automation and by using time/resources efficiently).Functional/Technical Tactical development on UBS systems. Maintain knowledge of developments in technology of strategic importance to UBS Warburg. Creative use of technology to enhance stability of production applications. REQUIREMENTS
Basic Qualifications:We Require:
A Bachelor of Science degree and or equivalent work experience with a field of studies concentrated in Computer Science, Math, Science or Engineering.Candidates should possess experience on at least a number of the skill sets listed below:A minimum of 3 years experience in an IT support or application development support role.
2-4 years of experience supporting systems in both Unix and Windows environments.
SQL experience on Oracle or Sybase or comparable DBMS experience with a strong knowledge of transactions, error handling and security is essential.
1 year experience with an Object Oriented Programming language Java/Perl/C++/.NET is strongly preferred.
Understanding of loan related products and financial risk control is desirable.
Understanding of network fundamentals and client-server applications in a heterogeneous networked environment.
Experience with Autosys job management framework, Rational ClearCase suite, web technologies JSP, XML, DHTML and HTTP servers is desirable.
Ability to develop and extend knowledge and understanding of technology & business issues and be able to order, identify & prioritize issues, their solution and assist in developing specifications for enhancements.
Understand & possibly define and implement infrastructure redundancy for BCP and disaster recovery.
Individuals must be self-starting and possess excellent verbal and written communication skills, be customer focused and able to coordinate between disparate groups.
