Storage Engineer

The Senior Engineer, Enterprise Systems will provide functional and technical expertise in the storage administration area. Provide engineering, implementation, storage management and technical support of multi-data center storage environments and solutions.

Summary of Functions:
•Responsible for the capacity planning, performance tuning, and reporting for all storage and disk based solutions
•Provide architecture planning, design, guidance, and implementation for new Storage solutions.
•Recommend and design procedures and modifications to the storage environment that will enhance system functionality and integrity.
•Interface with other functional support groups in design and coordination of storage configurations.
•Plan, Design, and Implement 24/7 High Availability solutions leveraging both hardware and software technologies.
•Create server images and standards on both wintel and blade platforms
•Plan, Design, and Implement enterprise class backup and backup to disk solutions
•Provide monitoring configurations to ensure optimum utilization of available capacity.
•Technical resource for operations and applications support groups
•Communicate hardware concerns / issues to management and user groups
•Ensures that all software changes affecting the storage environment configurations are thoroughly planned, tested, and documented prior to implementation.
•Participates in all Disaster Recovery and Business Continuity planning initiatives.
•Maintain liaison with vendors, technical groups and organizations that are necessary to remain abreast of current technology and techniques
•Create and maintain design, technical, procedural, and standards documentation related to the storage infrastructure and related technologies
REQUIREMENTS
Required experience / technologies:
•EMC or HP storage Engineer Certification
•Working / Expert Knowledge with:
oWindows 2003 Active Directory Infrastructure
oWindows server 2000 and 2003
oSAN and NAS Hardware solutions (EMC and HP)
oDisk and Library based Backup Solutions
oSAN Data Replication Technologies
oHP Proliant and Blade Servers
oEMC Autostart
oEMC Vmware
oVeritas Backup Exec and Netbackup
