COMSYS is currently seeking a Senior Network Engineer for a full time, direct hire position with a large telecommunications firm in Washington, DC (20204). CANDIDATE MUST HAVE ACTIVE SECRET CLEARANCE. PLEASE DO NOT APPLY UNLESS YOU MEET THIS CRITERIA.

Job Description:
Senior Network Engineers will participate in full project lifecycle (plan, design and implementation) for several network improvement initiatives focused on enhancing and modernizing existing network architecture. Design and plan network engineering modernizations for a large government service provider network.Provide specifications and detailed schematics for network architecture. Ensure that all projects include engineering solutions that meet current architectural standards. Provide specific detailed information for hardware and software selection, implementation techniques and tools for the most efficient solution to meet business needs, including present and future capacity requirements. Document Engineering Installation Plans for each phase of the project that will touch the production network. Conduct testing of network designs. Execute engineering changes during Authorized Outage windows to maintain the stability of the production network.Projects include enhancements to existing Juniper MPLS core, additional nodes installed on Cisco OC-192 SONET ring, as well as various lifecycle replacement and capacity upgrades throughout the network. Requires thorough understanding of cutting edge networking technologies (Juniper, Cisco, Extreme, MPLS, VRF, BGP, OSPF, Type 1 encryption, etc).
