Description: The principal duties of an Electrical Product Design Engineer include the analysis and design of various components and/or assemblies used in the construction of electrical apparatus sold to utilities or electrical contractors. Examples of such electrical apparatus would be found in electric utility or large OEM manufacturing site substations and would include oil-filled power transformers (20 MVA or higher) or large 3-phase distribution transformers, supporting switchgear control centers, etc. Some prior experience with such equipment is considered a serious plus for this position. The generation of associated drawings and instructions are included in the EPDE duties. Other assigned engineering tasks require the application of standard engineering principles and practices. The pursuit of continuous improvements and effectiveness of the Company’s engineering group, as well as increased customer satisfaction, is a constant endeavor.

Position Responsibilities:

·Perform required engineering tasks such as analysis, design, development, test, installation and service on both existing and proposed products;
·Approve all electrical design calculations on custom products and provide a proposed design package and electrical layout, including alternatives to resolve any technical issues;
·Evaluate customer requirements and application needs with regard to complexity, reliability and manufacturability of designs.
·Ensure that designs are within all applicable National/International standards;
·Review and analyze engineering data, and prepare specifications and related documentation;
·Participate in internal design reviews and recommend changes, as needed;
·Work with suppliers to develop new designs and products;
·Provide technical support to manufacturing in the form of standard engineering analyses and tests, as required;
·Investigate technical problems and participate in the generation of corrective action plans.
REQUIREMENTS
Minimum Requirements:

·BS Degree in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering;
·5+ years experience designing components and/or assemblies used in the construction of electrical apparatus for utilities or electrical contractors;
·Thorough understanding of standard engineering theories, concepts, principles and techniques;
·Knowledge of design rules and processes, product application principles and product testing;
·Team player with excellent communication skills;
·Candidates must be a U.S. citizen or be authorized to work fulltime in the United States (Green Card). Employer will not sponsor a visa.

Desired Requirement:
·Advanced Degree is a plus.

Compensation Range: $65K to $80K, depending on experience
