Sr. Applications Architect - AD

This Dallas-based position requires a senior architect to support the Worldwide Securities Services (WSS) division and its cross-LOB (line of business) utilities. The role will involve large scale Application Development (AD) projects, often having a global focus and requires the ability to work successfully with counterparts in the business and operations areas as well as AD. Business knowledge of securities pricing, reference data, mutual and pension fund accounting and custody will be very helpful in this role.



This position will functionally report to the Global Architecture group and administratively to the Dallas Application Development group. Projects will be aligned with the Global strategy and delivered out of Dallas.



Role-specific Responsibilities

Defines current and target state application architecture aligned with requirements of the various business, operations and technology initiatives within WSS. This role will primarily focus on the Securities Company division of WSS and cross-LOB utilities. The Securities Company division provides custody and fund accounting to holders of securities.

During development of the target architecture, compares application options according to function, technology and cost and makes a recommendation.

Develops potential migration paths to the target state model

Works closely with application development project teams to understand agendas and establish priorities

Provides guidance and vendor technology direction to project teams compliant with JPMC/WSS standards

Supports architecture responsibilities as part of the standard project lifecycle

Provides application strategy to support the business along with guidance and in-depth architecture support for those who need to buy into the vision

Provides key inputs in vendor product selection and internal innovations

Is cognizant of the broader WSS and firm-wide standards, policies and drivers and incorporates these to produce a strategy which is sustainable in the long term

Provides expert knowledge of application architecture and consults to business, operations, and technology REQUIREMENTS
8-10 years of related technology experience, working with multiple technologies and complex, large scale systems in a technology leadership position, preferably in the financial services industry. Experience should include application/software, information, business, and/or infrastructure architecture. Application/software development and implementation experience required. Understanding of relevant technologies and development life cycles Strong business system, analysis and development experience Logical and Physical design experience Strong business and product knowledge Excellent written and oral communication skills and demonstrated ability to interact with all technical and non-technical members of the organization Work experience in several of the following areas: application technology, middleware technology, object oriented technologies, database and internet technologies, and network connectivity
