Protocol Software Engineer


Spirent Communications is an international provider of industry leading performance analysis and service assurance solutions to test the world’s latest wireless, satellite positioning and wire-line devices, applications and technologies.


RESPONSIBILITIES:
Design and implementation of Layer 2 and 3 protocol software for 3G network simulation applications for mobile device testing
Development of state machine based network protocol processing
Development of Microsoft Windows based application software or PowerPC embedded software
Participation in all phases of product realization cycle

KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS:
Excellent technical expertise (ability to become a subject matter expert)
Subject matter expertise with CDMA or UMTS communication technology is desired
Strong Microsoft Windows application software design and implementation skills
Proficient embedded software design and implementation skills
Experience with Microsoft Visual C++ (Windows) and/or PowerPC based Tornado (VxWorks) embedded C software is a plus
Outstanding debugging and problem solving skills

The qualifications for the position include:

Minimum of a Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering or other related technical field
High aptitude for system hardware/software integration and associated Layer 1 to 3 details
Track record of hands-on achievement
Strong sense of ownership
Good team player
Good written and verbal communication skills
