Software Design Engineer in Test

This downtown Seattle, WA Multimedia eCommerce Company is seeking an experienced Software Design Engineer in Test to be part of a QA Client Team. Primary responsibilities for the position include creating automation scripts to support testing, identifying and tracking bugs; designing and developing test plans; monitoring and maintaining automated test cases; and working with Program Managers and Developers to ensure high quality features are shipped to our customers on time.


Excellent written and verbal communication skills are essential for this position, as well as the capacity to work under pressure in small and highly focused teams. The Test Engineer will work closely with other Testers, Developers, Program Managers and the Test Leads to complete testing on a complex, vertical software feature set through major release points.


About Our ClientThis is a very large and successful Global Leader in Multimedia eCommerce that supplies Internet Media delivery.They develop and market software products and services designed to enable users of personal computers and consumer electronic devices to send and receive audio, video, games and other multimedia services using the Web.

This is an estimated 6-12 month contract position, through Volt Technical Resources - a division of a Fortune 1000 publicly traded Staffing Industry Leader, which is headquartered in Redmond, Washington. Requirements:



This position requires the following skills and experience:
A minimum of 5 years professional software testing experience including knowledge of all standard testing procedures and methodologies and all major Windows Operating Systems
Self-starter; organized; takes initiative; proactive communicator
Visual Test, VB Script, WinRunner and/or C/C++ experience are desirable
Experience with test automation and multimedia products is a plus
Ability to write functional, well-documented code which performs complex tasks
Ability to parse and understand complex feature specs of over 25 pages in length and derive a Test Outline, Test Plans, all supporting Test Cases and automation covering all functionality, UI, System, integration and performance
Ability to put together a schedule based on estimates of time to test features, includes duration, level of effort, tools required
Minimum: 2 years in a technical testing role
Preferred:
Experience testing streaming media, particularly music
2+ years white box testing
2+ years coding experience

Education, Certification and/or Training:Minimum: College DegreePreferred: BS/BA in Computer Science or related discipline. A BA/BS degree in Mathematics, Computer Science or related discipline or 2+ years experience is required for this position

Minimum Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
Experience writing and executing test plans
Ability to write scripting code
Experience testing multiple feature areas concurrently
Thorough understanding of the testing process and fundamentals from the project inception to shipping
Black box testing experience
Ability to read and understand technical information and determine how it should be tested

Preferred Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

Automation skills
Ability to write complex code in one or more of the following languages: C, C++, C#, Java, BASIC
Knowledge of multimedia content authoring
Strong interpersonal skills.
