Embedded Software Design Engineer

Spirent Communications is an international provider of industry leading performance analysis and service assurance solutions to test the world’s latest wireless, satellite positioning and wire-line devices, applications and technologies.

RESPONSIBILITIES:
Design and implementation of real-time embedded signal processing or control software system for 3G & 4G network simulation or channel modeling applications
Develop high speed TMS320 and FPGA based distributed signal processing algorithms & software
Develop PowerPC and real-time OS based multi-threaded embedded software
Participation in all phases of product realization cycle

KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS:
Excellent technical expertise (ability to become a subject matter expert)
Subject matter expertise with CDMA or UMTS communication technology is desired
Excellent C and C++ coding skills
Proficient embedded software design and implementation skills. Experience with VHDL for FPGA firmware development and C/C++ for DSP or embedded processor software development. Specific experience with Code Composer Studio & VHDL for DSP and PowerPC based Tornado (VxWorks) control software is a plus
Outstanding debugging and problem solving skills

REQUIREMENTS:
The qualifications for the position include:
Minimum of a Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering or other related technical field
Experience in the design and implementation of complex embedded software systems with an aptitude for the associated digital and RF hardware technologies
Track record of hands-on achievement
Strong sense of ownership
Good team player
Good written and verbal communication skills
