Software Design Engineer 2 (SDE2)

SOFTWARE DESIGN ENGINEER LEVEL 2

Tasks (on a daily basis):
Attend daily Triage meeting to go over all open bugs, new bugs reported the prior day, and issues with support team on testing fixes to prior bugs reported
Investigate problems assigned by:
Reading Memory and Crash Dumps from Microsoft Servers
Simulating bug in test lab environment
Reviewing source code (existing which may or may not be documented)
Coming up with appropriate resolution to problem. This could include developing new source code or fixing existing code
Test fixing
Provide QA with documented fix and updated source code (checked into test system)
Work with QA during testing of fix

As a result, messaging and collaboration infrastructure is a critical focal point for businesses in the fight against malicious software.

Requirements:



Required Skills:
Two+ years C or C++ Development experience
Experience with Software Development Lifecycle (Design, Code, Unit Test) from Functional Specifications or Problem Reports from clients
Two+ years experience reading and interpreting Memory and Crash Dumps in a Microsoft Server environment
Two+ years experience debugging code (C or C++) that may or may not have been documented

Personality:
Strong customer service skills
Desire to get involved with fixing customer issues
Quick Learner
Sense of Urgency
Excellent Communication Skills
This person may be working with external clients and internal Microsoft product support groups in North Carolina.
