Senior Websphere Developer

The Java/J2EE Software Developer for a multi-phase software development effort. The candidate will under general direction, design, construct, test, and implement portions of business and technical information technology solutions through application of appropriate software development life cycle methodology. The developer participates in business and technical information technology solution implementations, upgrades, enhancements, and conversions. Understands and uses appropriate tools to analyze, identify and resolve business and/or technical problems. The candidate must be proficient developing in the IBM Websphere Commerce and Portal environment.

JOB DUTIES:
- Design, code, debug, test and support Java applications that are key components of distributed and innovative enterprise applications.

- Participate in design discussions and code reviews.

- Ability to provide Service Center after hours development support.

- Take responsibility for maintenance and further development of code developed by others.

- Lead new development projects and initiatives.

- Ability to interact with customers regarding business and technical information technology needs.

- Ability to participate on empowered, virtual teams.

- Promote and initiate new processes and methodologies to improve the development and implementation of software modules and services.
REQUIREMENTS


QUALIFICATIONS:
- B.S in Computer Science or related field with 5+ years of experience developing J2EE software.

- In depth experience in Object Oriented Programming, application architectures and design patterns.

- In depth experience with IBM Websphere Commerce and IBM Websphere Portal

- Strong debugging and trouble shooting skills
- Ability to multi-task efficiently on parallel efforts (customer issues, prototyping/architecture, implementation etc).
- Database access (JDBC,DB2, Oracle).
- Java user interfaces (WSAD, Eclipse, etc.)
- XML APIs for reading/writing (Xerxes, Java XML Parser)

- J2SE 1.4 & J2EE 1.3.

- Operating systems (Solaris, Windows, Linux, HP/UX & AIX)

- Third party reporting and charting technologies.

- Web technologies like DHTML/XHTML, JavaScript, and JSP Apache 2.0 HTTP Server, Tomcat 4.1.24 Server, WebSphere Application Server, IBM WebSphere Portal, IBM Websphere Commerce

- Web Services (SOAP)

- Web Frameworks (Struts, Java Server Faces)

- Integration Tools (WebMethods)

- UML Sybase PowerDesigner

- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
