Senior Web Services Software Engineer
Provide Web Services development and architectural expertise for back-end support of BroadBand Operational Systems and Network Reporting Systems.
Provide additional interface support by implementing Web services and designing architectural enhancements.
Requires development expertise with Java, SOAP, XML, and BEA WebLogic/App Server.
Also requires strong experience with Oracle 9i and PL/SQL in providing database or back-end support using several access methods (ODBC, JDBC, SQL, PL/SQL, Cognos BI tool).
Specific responsibilities include:
a. Work with the system architect to become familiar with the existing interface.
b. Review the Web service architecture and design a Web service interface.
c. Configure middleware and setup development environment required to support the proposed Web service.
d. Create design and process documents as required by NRS.
e. Resolve issues that are identified in design reviews.
f. Develop and unit test the Web service.
g. Perform integration testing, and assist with system testing and correction of defects.
REQUIREMENTS
Strong Web services experience to include: designing Web services, configuring Web/App servers, and developing & testing Web services.
Strong experience with Oracle 9i and PL/SQL, with Oracle 10g experience a strong plus.
Development expertise with Java, SOAP, XML, and BEA WebLogic/App Server.
Experience with Oracle XML, Eclipse, ant, subversion, Mercury Quality Center, or other IDEs are all strong pluses.
Experience with DSL or telephony also a strong plus.
Experience using the Cognos BI tool for Web access as well as with Cognos Impromptu, ReportNet, and PowerPlay to support scheduled and on-demand reports (a strong plus).
Strong communication skills, both verbal and written.
