Senior Web Server Engineer
Position Summary:
The Senior Web Server Engineer role is to optimize Windows servers and related components to achieve high availability and performance of the various business applications supported. This includes designing, installing, configuring, administering, and fine-tuning e-Mail systems and components across the organization in a timely and efficient manner. Additionally this individual will plan, develop, install, configure, maintain, support, and optimize all network software and communication links related to these systems. The person will also analyze and resolve end-user software program and connectivity issues in a timely and accurate fashion, and provide end-user training where required. This individual will provide technical guidance and mentor staff in front-line support roles for these systems. Additionally, this person must collaborate with other technical hardware and software departments.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities:
•Manage and administrate systems and their corresponding or associated software.
•Manage communications and connection solutions, including local area networks, company Web site, intranet, and Internet applications.
•Oversee installation, configuration, maintenance, and troubleshooting.
•Distribute and supervise server storage space allotments.
•Design and implement disaster recovery plan for operating systems, databases, networks, servers, and software applications.
•Provide level two on-call technical support.
•Analyze system or application usage and coordinate capacity planning.
•Assess need for any system reconfigurations (minor or significant) and execute them if required.
•Ensure connectivity of all workstations.
•Administer and maintain end-user accounts, permissions, and access rights.
•Perform network and security audits.
•Insure system backups and coordinate monitoring with help desk/computer operators.
•Monitor and test system performance and provide statistics and reports.
•Recommend, schedule, and perform system improvements, upgrades, and/or purchases.
•Manage and/or provide guidance to junior members of the team.
•Interact and negotiate with vendors, outsourcers, and contractors to secure software products and services.
•Develop, implement and maintain policies, procedures and associated training plans for system administration and appropriate use.
•Establish and maintain existing service level agreements with end-users.
•Coordinate related needs, designs, budgets, and planning with corporate, regional and site management.
•Train, mentor, and support field, help desk, and development staff on projects and issues involving systems within purview.
•Other PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES may be defined at a future date.
Secondary Duties and Responsibilities:
•Flexible and willingness to research, document, and support new systems acquired through acquisitions, department restructuring, and organizational redesigns.
•Provide on-site or in-house training on particular features/modules currently under purview.
•Conduct research on emerging products, services, protocols, and standards in support of systems software procurement and development efforts.

REQUIREMENTS
Education / Prior Experience Required:
•Proven experience in server administration working for a large e-commerce or e-banking institution.
•College diploma or university degree in the field of computer science and/or 6 years equivalent work experience.
•Extensive application support experience with Web Administration (IIS).
•Experience with Microsoft SharePoint a plus.
•Microsoft Certifications a plus.
•Experience with Unix based systems such as Linux, FreeBSD, and HP/UX considered a plus.
•Working technical knowledge of network, PC, and platform operating systems, including Windows and Unix.
•Strong knowledge of local area network administration.
•Hands-on software and hardware troubleshooting experience.
•Knowledge of applicable data privacy practices and laws (HIPAA and SOX).
•Experience working in a team-oriented, collaborative environment.
