Senior Software Engineer / Architect

Summary:

Evaluates, designs, implements and maintains applications using the most appropriate technology available. Works closely with business personnel to determine requirements. Involved with design reviews, systems testing and data modeling on complex projects. Stays abreast of new technologies and effectively applies previous experience when designing and developing new applications. Provides leadership and direction for lesser experienced Software Engineers.

Essential Job Duties:

50% - Performs complex application and database design activities which may require extensive research and analysis:
•Performs design, implementation and maintenance of complex, multiple product modules/sub-systems
•Involved with design reviews, systems testing and data modeling on complex projects
•Participates in product design meetings

20% - Creates custom applications for company’s internal use or for use by it’s customers:
•Develops technical architecture of web sites, storefronts and other systems
•Develops code and writes browser and OS level scripts
•Integrates artwork, frames and forms
•Uses high availability databases for back-end development
•Understands application and network security and ensures that all systems are protected

20% - Maintains existing applications:
•Provides Level II support for internet and intranet applications
•Updates and enhances existing applications

10% - Keeps informed of latest web and software development technology and standards:
•Researches new technology or development tools to remain informed and provide direction
•Assists in mapping out a technology roadmap for future development

REQUIREMENTS
Credentials:

Required:
•Requires a minimum of six years of web, Internet, or networking related development experience, including technical experience in database design and product support.
•Advanced technical knowledge in database development methodologies, design and implementation.
•Advanced analytical and design skills at multiple product level.
•Advanced skills in research and analysis, project planning and implementation.
•Advanced understanding of entire development process, including specification, documentation and quality assurance.
•Advanced knowledge of web-related programming and systems analysis procedures specifically development, design. architecture experience with multi-tier and distributed systems. Strong experience in role of architect or designer. Full life-cycle experience with complex multi-tier / web applications from requirements analysis through release and support.
•Interfaces with business users, understands and documents requirements, develops and potentially enhances business processes.
•Advanced PC skills.

• Web services
• SQL Server / data modeling
• TCP/IP
• Web development technologies
• Version control systems
• Security
• Ability to design and implement frameworks

Preferred:
Bachelor's degree in business or computer science or related experience.

Physical Requirements:
•Ability to sit at a computer terminal for long periods of time.
•Ability to be physically in attendance at workstation at designated company office location during normal business hours designated for the position.
•Ability to handle considerable stress at times.
