Senior SQL DBA

Classification: Contract to Full Time Compensation: $38 to $42 per hour Robert Half Technology, the world's leader in technology staffing, is currently seeking a contract to hire SQL DBA for a consulting firm based in Irving, TX.In this the role the candidate will provide DBA support and consulting for upgrading and maintaining Microsoft SQL environments and applications. Plan, recommend, and implement capacity, growth and changes for MSSQL 7.0, 2000 and 2005 architectures. Serve as the primary technical resource on projects executed by the Professional Services organization including ITO implementations. A Consultant is expected to function in either a lead role or a subordinate role depending on the needs of the project.On a day to day basis, the candidate will be responsible for leading technical and non-technical discussions with both technician and non-technical end-users; Leading large-scale technical projects, working with staff and vendors to gather requirements, scope technical efforts, determine solutions, set-up project tasks/plans, and then implement those solutions; Providing technical expertise required to complete Professional Services contracts (ITO and other); Assisting in completing needs assessments for new projects; Working with Project Managers to complete tasks and set customer expectations; Proactively monitor system logs and error logs as well as disk drive space available to databases and transaction logs; Proactively monitor and analyze system performance; Provide performance reviews and tuning recommendations for applications; Analyze and create SQL maintenance plans and patching strategies; Implement infrastructure changes in accordance with policies; Prepare documentation, perform cost/benefit analyses and prepare project status reports; Design and implement secure environments, and control and monitor user access and activity levels; Provide consultation and advice to application development groups to ensure that development efforts do not negatively affect production systems; Analyze and resolve database and application issues affecting MSSQL environments; After hours and weekend work may be expected, based on project requirements, but will be scheduled; Assist Project Manager with development and prioritization of the technical details of the project plan; Assist Project Manager with the creation of a migration plan for infrastructure and applications; Coordinate meeting agendas with Project Manager; Participation in transition to support meetings with SWAT
