Senior Engineer - Gas Turbine Conceptual Design

Business Unit: GE Infrastructure, EnergyFunction: Engineering/ Product DevelopmentResponsibilities: * Conceptual Design of next generation gas turbine components and systems. Apply knowledge of gas turbine design and systems to conceive and gather ideas that offer potential for enhanced performance, operational flexibility, emissions, cost and value. Work closely with other ATO teams, facilitating investigation of these ideas, performing detailed system level trade studies and selecting the right concepts for GE's next generation gas turbine products. Understand what concepts are being pursued at Aviation, GRC, universities and competitors. Evaluate these for potential development and incorporation into Energy products. Support conceptual design tools development for analysis and modeling of future gas turbine products. These activities require communication, facilitation, system level analyses and a high degree of enthusiasm to drive significant improvements into the gas turbine/power plant system design; to increase overall value by differentiating around major CTQ's.
REQUIREMENTS
Qualifications: * BS Engineering Degree. Minimum 8 years of engineering experience, with a minimum of 5 years gas turbine experience. Export Control Authorization Required. Six Sigma Green Belt (GE employees only).Desired: * Advanced technical degree. GE leadership program graduate. Broad understanding of GE Energy products and services. Black Belt certified. Creative and open mindset. Effective interpersonal and influencing skills. Knowledge of aerodynamics, heat transfer, gas turbine performance, flow analysis, mechanical design, cost/value analysis. Ability to work in a dynamic environment with a wide variety of organizations and individuals in global locations. Ability and willingness to challenge status quo, without allegiance to past or current practices and technology, to get to the best GE products. Solid understanding of gas turbine systems, design and operation.
