We are currently searching for a qualified candidate to fill the following position for a SQL Server DBA:
· Candidate will manage DBA responsibilities within a SQL environment.
· This assignment requires a skilled resource capable of database design, performance tuning, and performance/ capacity planning.
· Candidate must be able to write detailed stored procedures, and views.
· Performance metrics will also be needed to assess how much additional capacity can be add to the SQL environment and incrementally what the additional volume growth does to capacity plans.
· Candidate must also be skilled in WEB IIS environments which directly interacts with the SQL environment.
· Typical work activities will include: Establishing the needs of users; Refining the 'logical design' so that it can be translated into a specific data model; Further refining the 'physical design' to meet system storage requirements; Testing new systems; Maintaining data standards; Writing database documentation, including data standards, procedures and flow diagrams; Controlling access permissions and privileges; Meeting users' access requirements and resolving their problems; Capacity planning, space monitoring; Working closely with IT project managers, database programmers and web developers; Providing technical support for outdated 'legacy' systems; Communicating regularly with technical, applications, and operational staff, to ensure the database integrity and security; Problem resolution, database configuration, capacity planning, and performance tuning.
· Day to day database operations, including system and product administration functions.
· Assistance with selection of new database systems including design/redesign/creation/integration, feasibility studies, impact analysis, design and implementation of one or two way automated data conversion functions, data loading, and reduction of redundant data.
· Ensuring test procedures are defined, documented, and implemented for new databases.
· Ensuring storage, archiving, backup and recovery procedures are defined, documented, implemented, and functioning correctly.
· Provide technical assistance to the user community and applications support staff.
· Provide on-call (off-hour and weekend) support for the systems and the associated software products.
· Perform related duties as needed or assigned.
· Web Server responsibilities will include: Responsible for the on-going technical support of the Web servers. Responsible for reliable and secure 24x7 functioning of production server environment. Maintain all Web applications, forms and Web services. Manage web server security and permissions to files, databases, folders and applications on the Web servers. Manage all Web server software, upgrades and additions. Recommend policies, guidelines, and tools regarding use of any server utilizing Web server applications to the Manager of Technology and others as needed. Monitor Web site traffic and report data to the appropriate personnel. Monitor and resolve all Web server and Web site errors, including IIS errors. Keep abreast of current Web technology and related areas, and advise the Manager of Technology on relevant information. Provide assistance to Technology staff on an as needed basis. Monitor IIS activity and block all unwanted traffic.
· Make recommendations to improve users experience, increase site usability and simplify navigation.
· Set up, configure, manage, load balance, tune, and report on IIS.
· Recommend, acquire, and implement tools to generate comprehensive reports on site analysis/statistics and intranet performance (e.g. MS Site Server/ILS-Internet Locator Server).
· Log and track calls related to any of the above activities.
