SYSTEMS ENGINEER/AVAILABLE IN ROCKFORD, IL

GENERAL POSITION DESCRIPTION:
The candidate would be responsible for Controller Area Network (CAN) communications for 787 motor control applications on systems engineering. CAN data structures, logical and physical layer design issues. Will develop high level protocol or schemes to guarantee deterministic, low jitter bus behavior. The candidate will need to perform average and peak bus loading analysis. The candidate will also need to work directly with Boeing/Smith customer on supplier committee to help develop 787 aircraft level CAN requirement specifications. Candidate will need to generate HS CAN requirement specification. Candidate will need to generate a CAN verification test plan, procedures and reports.
REQUIREMENTS
REQUIRED SKILLS:
Qualified candidate must have a minimum of 7 years experience with formal realtime software development approaches. Candidate must have solid experience with the industry CAN specifications such as:
Bosch CAN Specification 2.0, Part B, dated Sep. 1991
ISO 11898, AMENDMENT 11995-04-01 Road vehicles – Interchange of digital information – Controller area network (CAN) for high-speed communication
SAE J2284 Draft Version 9/8/98 High Speed CAN (HSC) for Vehicle Applications at 500 kbps
Should have experience with aircraft embedded control systems.
Strong oral and written communication skills are also required.

DESIRED SKILLS:
Candidate should have experience with formal DO-178B software development and verification on flight critical embedded realtime software. Should possess strong HW/SW debug and integration skills. Good customer interface skills is a plus.
