SQL Server DBA

Description:
A Senior Database Administrator position to perform database development
activities for commercial software product, and provide support and
maintenance for users of external and internal database systems.
Among the specific responsibilities of this position:

·Full involvement in the database software commercialization process:
design from requirements, development estimates,software development
and testing; support of QA testing and software implementation.
·Database support and maintenance for internal and external customers.
· Responsibility to the Data Resources Management team in all project
and support endeavors.


Responsibilities:
·Establishes database management systems, standards, guidelines and
quality assurance for database deliverables, such as conceptual design,
logical database, capacity planning, external data interface
specification, data loading plan, data maintenance plan and security
policy.
·Documents and communicates database design.
·Evaluates and installs database management systems. Codes complex programs and derives logical processes on technical platforms. Builds windows, screens and reports.
·Assists in the design of user interface and business application prototypes
·Participates in quality assurance and develops test application code in client server environment.
·Responsible for devising, negotiating, and defending the tables and fields provided in
the database
·Adapts business requirements, developed by modeling/development staff and systems engineers, and develops the data, database specifications, table and element attributes for an application.
·At more experienced levels, helps to develop an understanding of client's original data and storage mechanisms.
Determines appropriateness of data for storage and optimum storage
organization.
·Determines how tables relate to each other and how fields
interact within the tables for a relational model.
REQUIREMENTS
Requirements:

6+ years database engineering experience.
Required Technical Skills and Experience:
>Microsoft SQL Server 2000 and 6.5
>Strong application database development background
>Proficient in TSQL programming of stored procedures and batch scripts
>Logical data modeling using Erwin or Visio
>Physical schema creation including DRI, constraints, triggers
>SQL Server database and server security administration
SQL utilities BCP, ISQL/OSQL
>Windows command shell scripting
>Database maintenance, backup, recovery
>Windows Server 2003, NT 4.0 Server

Preferred experience (not required):
>Oracle and/or Informix experience a plus
>SQL Server replication
>Data warehousing using SQL 2000 Business Intelligence services
>Networking knowledge (as relates to SQL Server)
>Experience developing software applications for commercial usage
> VB.NET development experience a plus
