Retail Marketing Manager
*** Outgoing & love to interact with the public - The first point of contact for customers coming into our Home Center.
>>>With an average of 110 visitors a month, we need a polished individual that can sell all of the amenities of our city with intelligent passion. You’re the person that can help “close the deal” for someone deciding to live in the city; from guiding them through our 225 neighborhoods and describing over 25 home buying incentive programs, to detailing the latest development projects and hot trends; your knowledge and enthusiasm must inspire. Your work experience and references must tell the story of your compelling and relentlessly friendly personality.<<<
*** Self-managed, motivated & organized - On a given Saturday 16 consumers may visit us in search of city living information, some waiting to meet with an on-site real estate agent or mortgage lender and many just waiting to talk with you.
>>>You need to keep all those balls in the air and answer the phone! Must work independently, be highly motivated and know how to manage time effectively. You are essentially managing an independent “retail store” and will need to demonstrate your previous experience with a similar scale of responsibilities and resulting success.<<<
*** Creative license to develop traffic stopping window displays, present LB merchandise for sale and host in-house events to generate traffic & in general create the Home Center as the place for all city living info.
>>>This part is the wild card, you either have creative ability or you don’t. Your resume and cover letter should tell of your opportunity seizing personality where you went above and beyond the call and took great initiative to take a project to the next level.<<<
Website / Marketing Coordinator
*** You have an eye for design and know how to keep our award-winning website Baltimore’s #1 resource. You MUST have hands on experience with Adobe design software (Photoshop/Illustrator) & Macromedia (Dreamweaver/Fireworks) and have samples that demonstrate your killer creative side.
>>>Remember, we are a non-profit organization so we all wear a lot of hats here. Although we outsource our large scale media campaigns, we design a fair amount of communications in-house, from web to print. Your design samples will give us insight into your varied style abilities and passion for finding the next cool look.<<<
*** Not only can you compose a well written sentence, but you know how to take the sometimes lackluster communication and make it fun and interesting. Our weekly HTML e-newsletter reaches over 9K subscribers and they look forward to what you have to say week after week…
>>>If you are familiar with the writing style of woot.com then you are already ahead of the pack. What we do is serious business, but we don’t like to take ourselves too seriously. Your writing samples will demonstrate that you have the technique, but also the ability to make the sometimes mundane sound interesting and memorable.<<<
*** The key for this position is flexibility; from editing web content, to recruiting for volunteers for an upcoming event; to answering consumer email inquiries; to working with our 1K+ City Life Ambassadors; no 2 days are the same and that is an environment where you thrive.
>>>You will be working with a state-of-the-art web content management tool and managing a 500+ page web site, that in and of itself takes a great ability of time management. Throw in answering the phone with a smile and know that your resume is going to have to show us how you have managed multiple responsibilities at once (all that with a positive attitude).<<<
REQUIREMENTS
Please submit the following:
- Cover Letter (seriously, we won't even look at your resume if you don't include one and tell us why you are perfect for this position & convey your passion for city living)
- Resume (please make sure you have month start & stop dates on previous positions, no 2001-2003 ambiguities please)
- Salary Requirements (yup, we really need this. If you don’t include, no matter how fabulous you seem on paper you will go in the hold pile. We need a salary range; no matter how cool you think the job would be, there is no way you will be happy with a $20K paycut over the long haul)
- Portfolio: if you are called for an interview you may be asked to bring to design and writing samples that have been produced in the professional world (no intern/classroom projects). If you don’t have this already pulled together, you might want to start thinking about doing that now. We pay as much attention to what is in the portfolio as to how it is presented.
TIP? If you want to really impress us review our web site, know what we do and tell us specifically how you can help us do it even better, also visit our Home Center and experience it for yourself (we’re open M-Sat 9-5).
And finally, you MUST live in Baltimore City, how could you possibly ask someone else to do something you are not willing to do yourself…? There are NO exceptions to this one. If you live outside of the city, tell us in your cover letter about any living experience you have had here and your plans to relocate.
No phone calls, please send cover letter, resume and salary requirements to:
