This engineering position is an opportunity for doing refrigeration system design engineering for products at this major corporation in their suburban-based operation in Charlotte, NC. Design of refrigeration systems for products will be involve the entire life cycle; design, redesign or improvements of refrigeration systems, specification/ selection & evaluation of various refrigeration components (such as compressors, valves, evaporator, condenser, etc), oversee prototype and testing. Work with components may involve helping components suppliers to understand your needs and in some cases helping suppliers to design components. Will have project involvement ranging from timelines, to scheduling technicians, test lab, sourcing venders, staying on targets for budgets and deadlines, etc. Simply put, good project organization skills and ability to meet schedules without sacrificing quality. Specific project activity may be generated by a field problem being brought to you for solutions (not just one unit but changing designs for future units), reducing cost in the way of components or mfg costs, or just general improvements to the refrigeration systems of products (designs). Must have product refrigeration system design experience although specific product experience is not a critical issue. Does require someone with experience in mechanical systems for the refrigeration side (system) of some type of either refrigeration product or HVAC system. Air conditioning engineers with reasonable experience on the mechanical system side have done well in the past. Will consider engineers from refrigeration system component backgrounds such as compressors, expansion valve, condensers, and such if they have been able to develop a good knowledge of how an entire system functions, perhaps have evaluated components in a full refrigeration system.
