Our client, a world leader in power conversion, is seeking a Power
Systems Engineer to provide medium voltage power systems support to
customers, vendors and other integration team members to custom design and
specify main power distribution and protection systems for implementation
onboard Naval vessels AND an Electrical Engineer, Rotating Machine
Specialist to act as the central contact and design authority for the
technical specification, design, manufacturing and testing of rotating
equipment to be supplied as part of an integrated power system for Naval
propulsion projects.

Employees at our client work Monday through Thursday (business casual

Power Systems Engineer - Switchgear Specialist
Responsibilities Include:
1. Interacts and communicates with internal and external customers on the
technical aspects associated with the design and application of MV
Switchgear equipment.2. Provides consulting engineering and design management services
throughout the technology investigation and implementation processes.3. Provides technical expertise to internal and external customers in the
area of medium voltage, power distribution system design, application and
component selection.4. Designs and implements high resistance grounding systems.5. Other duties may be assigned by management to meet business needs.
Electrical Engineer, Rotating Machine Specialist
Responsibilities Include:
1. Provides the central contact and design authority for technical
specification, design, manufacturing and testing of rotating equipment.2. Provides the application of advanced, high power, vessel propulsion
technology.3. Provides technical expertise to internal and external customers in the
area of medium voltage, power system, rotating machinery design and
application.4. Interacts and communicates with internal and external customers
providing consulting engineering and designs management services throughout
the technology investigation and implementation processes.5. Interfaces with the customer, equipment suppliers and other project team
members on the technical aspects associated with the design and application
of rotating machinery equipment.6. Provides design and application of MV motors, MV generators and their
associated systems.7. Other duties may be assigned by management to meet business needs.
Job Requirements
Power Systems Engineer - Switchgear Specialist
1. Four (4) year degree in Electrical Engineering, Electrical Engineering
Technology or related field. Minimum of eight (8) years of direct
experience in the design of power system protection and the implementation
of medium voltage switchgear.2. Advanced knowledge of directional and differential power system
protection schemes.3. Advanced knowledge of power system software tools for the coordination
of protection schemes.4. Detailed knowledge of IEC and ANSI switchgear standards.5. Working knowledge of the requirements for switchboards for Naval
purposes (ABS, NVR and MIL Standards).6. Design experience with the interface and monitoring systems necessary
for vessel integration.7. Naval shock and EMC requirements experience would be beneficial but not
required.8. US Citizenship due to Government Contract specifications.9. Broad knowledge of precedents in the specialty area and a good knowledge
of principles and practices of related specialties.10. Proven ability to interact and communicate with internal and external
customers. Internal customers include peers, management, and personnel from
other APC departments and entities. External customers include clients,
customers, and vendors.11. Solid computer proficiency and technical aptitude with the ability to
utilize MS Office applications.12. Demonstrate a high degree of personal and professional ethics and
integrity. Requires self-direction, tact, diplomacy and a clear, courteous
and professional manner when dealing with the internal and external
customers. High energy level and sense of humor essential.13. Solid verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills
essential. Ability to draft professional documents with no supervision.14. Ability to prioritize workload and shift work activities in order to
meet business needs and department goals, essential.15. Ability to make recommendations regarding job methods and departmental
procedures.16. Must be able to independently arrange and organize work efforts on a
weekly, monthly and quarterly basis. Must be able to meet tight deadlines.
Must be able to handle multiple assignments on a consistent basis and

Physical Requirements:

5. Walking, filing of documents in upright file cabinets, and occasional

induction motors for propulsion, MV high power gas turbine alternators for
power generation and their associated systems.3. Working knowledge of Military Marine standards requirements including
ABS NVR, MIL, STDS, ANSI, IEEE, etc.4. Detailed knowledge of Naval requirements associated with Shock,
Noise/Vibration and EMC.5. US Citizenship due to Government Contract specifications.6. Broad knowledge of precedents in the specialty area and a good knowledge
