Piping Group Designer - Lead Person

Piping Group Designer Lead Person Under the direction of the Chief Engineer or the Design Supervisor, the Designer will be responsible to the Piping Group for the following:

3D modeling of power plant equipment, piping, and piping supports utilizing AutoCAD and AutoPLANT software.

Integrating the piping design with vendor supplied equipment and the work of other discipline design teams.
Interfacing with other designers, providing and receiving information on design development.

Performing preliminary piping flexibility analyses and expansion loop sizing calculations.

Preliminary selection of piping support locations and types.

Performing interference detection and reporting utilizing Explorer software.

Creating export files from AutoPLANT drawings.
Creating piping orthographic and isometric drawings from 3D models.

Checking the work of other designers.

Performing all work in accordance with SLCI design procedures, standards, guidelines, and work instructions.Job Requirements
The designer should be competent in utilizing the following software:

PC workstations running Windows operating systems (i.e., Windows NT, 2000 or XP).

2D and 3D AutoCAD software versions 2002, 2005, or 2006.

AutoPLANT software for equipment and piping modeling and creating orthographic and isometric drawings.

Isogen software for creating isometric drawings.

Explorer for interference detection.

Windows office applications (i.e., Microsoft Word and Excel).
The designer should also have the following skills:

Ability and willingness to be part of a dynamic team environment where initiative is crucial.
Ability to communicate effectively in both oral and written forms.

Good working knowledge of industry standard drafting practices.

Strong understanding of mathematics.
The designer should have experience that includes at least 3 to5 years of piping design work including 3D modeling, and creating orthographic and isometric drawings for power plant, petro-chemical, pulp and paper, or refinery projects.
An AA degree or equivalent vocational training is a plus.
Work is generally performed in an office environment, however, short term field assignments may be required. Work schedules may include overtime hours.
