The OLS Technical Architect will be responsible for working with the external
online business community (B2C, Global Web, microsites, etc.) to outline a
web/portal strategy based on industry best practices and plan for future
business requirements. The OLS Technical Architect may have management
responsibility for a team. He/she translates strategic business goals into
strategic plans. Works with sponsors and other stakeholders outside the
function to achieve cross-functional goals. Applies advanced and comprehensive
functional knowledge to resolve complex issues. Develops and implements
changes to processes. If in a technical role, work has a significant impact to
the overall project. Leads complex projects or initiatives. Regularly
interacts with Firm management.Primary Responsibilities of this role may include: Planning, overseeing the research, and evaluating the introduction of technology into the external online environment while supporting the strategic
business direction of the company. Developing and maintaining knowledge on the latest technologies and establishing how it can be assimilated into PwC’s technical architecture. Establishing and maintaining corporate-wide technology standards including the appropriate methodology, metrics and financial management while acting as
the firm’s technology visionary and principal spokesperson on technology issues. Identifying and/or attracting strong technical leadership into the organization and developing self-sufficiency and competence in the technologies
used. Developing excellent working relationships with hardware and software vendors as well as consulting firms to ensure that the organization maintains its
information technology on a leading edge versus its competitors. Provide strategic thought leadership within the external online environment. Monitor industry best practices and upcoming standards in the external online environment to determine the impact to the Firm’s global online space. Perform market analysis and map out a multi-year search strategy. Develop a blueprint upon which business solutions can be built. Needs to understand the
“big picture”, while evaluating and mitigating risks. Participate in requirements gathering, project definition, analysis and scoping activities associated with business requirements. Provide insight to the appropriate project team and OWG streams in terms of the current and planned services. Provide consultation to project leadership on dependencies, gaps, and overlaps between business requirements. Participate in scope management activities to help translate requirements into components of a future solution or service. Investigate ways to promote the value of the external online space; Search Engine Optimization techniques, analyze current search offerings from the likes
of Google to review potential service offerings, enable better, faster Web/MIS
reporting to show value-add to key stakeholders, use of heuristics design and
persuasive architecture to promote and entice our web users to continue to
investigate and use our sites, etc. Participate on the Online Working Group streams to provide strategic thought leadership. Regularly interacts with Global IT management and Online Working
Group participants. Experience in Performance Engineering in very large, high volume environments. Unique mastery of both technology and business domains. Creative
and practical in managing the relationship between the two. Demonstrative focus
on managing application complexity vs. simply exploiting technology. Demonstrated technical and leadership expertise in application development and project management to including distributed systems and web technologies. Demonstrated strong client service orientation. Technology should be an enabler for the business to succeed. Ability to demonstrate a strong character established through a strong work ethic, the ability to be accountable, the ability to take ownership, and the
ability to assume ownership and be held accountable for decisions as
demonstrated through the events of everyday work situations. An understanding of the digital era and economy, and the role that information technology can play, with the ability to provide direction and
leadership to the senior management team in transitioning technology management
to a more strategic emphasis. Proven success in complex problem analysis and resolution in an environment requiring superior negotiating and conflict resolution skills designed to give
strategic advantage to the company, while identifying the needs of internal
clients and ensuring customer satisfaction. An inquisitive desire to keep abreast of new technologies that can enhance the overall movement and manipulation of data to provide management with tools
to make timely decisions. You should be able to assess the many nebulous
announcements from vendors and determine their fit with the company’s business
and technical direction. Possess excellent interpersonal skills, with the ability to interact with a variety of senior-level executives, both internal and external to the company.
You must have the ability to translate technical data and concepts and
communicate them to nontechnical management personnel. An individual with unquestioned integrity who can act as a resource for his/her colleagues and can maintain up-to-date knowledge of all areas within
the technology arena. Solid understanding of the total business process and the need for teamwork between technical functions of the firm, staff, and operations functions. This
executive should serve clients’ needs and solve clients’ problems in a
proactive manner, which is designed to give strategic advantage to the firm. A self-starting leader who has a passion for building and is capable of quickly taking control of the technology function and developing it into a
strong resource for the company. Ability to attract and retain quality people to PwC, while developing and motivating these individuals into a cohesive team. Self-confidence and assuredness to serve the company in a best practices mentality, but yet humble and respectful of others and willing to utilize the
resources available in order to provide a quality service to the client.
REQUIREMENTS
Education Requirement:
Four year degree in any business or technicalarea or equivalent experience plus six or more years relevant work experience.Essential Requirements:
Five to ten years work experience in a large, global organization, dealing with web / portal technologies in a design or architecture role. Excellent communication skills Productivity, initiative, professionalism, customer service attitude, attention to detail and quality, ability to multitask, team focus, strong
interpersonal skills, strong verbal and written communication skills and
adherence to firm standard operating procedures. Ability to adapt to a rapidly changing environment. Must be willing to work overtime as necessary. Required to carry cell phone, pager or blackberry. Ability to develop work approach and project plans to meet client requirements, manage and monitor progress of plan Familiarity or experience with Project Management skills Excellent client service skills Ability to organize, plan and carry out complex assignments Ability to work effectively with tight deadlines and firm schedules Effective Problem Solving and negotiating skills Prior experience should be in an organization, which is noted for its excellence in information technology. Demonstrated excellent leadership ability with the capability of energizing and motivating people, leading to lasting culture change. Strong technology acumen and track record of hands-on implementations across multiple technologies. Should be able to demonstrate experience in designing and/or deploying technologies across the web / portal space: Web / portal infrastructure servers Web / portal services including search, metrics, usability, etc.
