Network Engineer
Coordinate and manage Windows NT/Novell Network projects. Design, install, test, implement, document, support, and maintain network operating systems and services. Develop procedures that enhance assigned system availability, security, and performance. Also provide desktop support to the Help Desk.
1.Maintains and understanding on institution wide NT/Novell Network systems as well as systems which it interfaces with.
2.Assists with Integration of the network and other institutional application.
3.Works with Users to maintain functionality of the network.
4.Assists departments in resolving Network specific problems.
5.Assists with system upgrades with servers and switches.
6.Assists in the development and implementation of Network policies, procedures and standards.
7.Assists with documentation to describe network development logic and coding.
REQUIREMENTS
Education:Bachelor"&tm;s degree in computer science, information systems engineering, business, or related discipline (may be waived with strong practical experience.)
Experience:Demonstrated organizational, leadership, analytical and problem-solving skills. Strong practical experience in a technical project environment, with proficiency in NT/Network management systems. Excellent oral and written communication skills. Knowledge of Novell Network 6.x, Group Wise 6.5, Windows 2000 Server and UNIX/LINUX is desired.
Additional Requirements:
1.Position requires hands on experience with Novell 4.x, 5.x, 6.x, Windows 2K/NT and Linux. Any NDS Tree migration experience from Novell 4.x to 6.x is a plus. Medium size environment with up to 20 servers and 1000 users.
2.Understanding of network security products and strategies.
3.NDS, specific e-Directory experience. Troubleshooting of the same at an advanced level.
4.Working knowledge of NetWare 6.0 and associated applications (Apache, i-Print, i-Folder, SSL, i-Manage, SLP, Portal, Certificate server, etc.)
5.Ability to work unassisted with ZEN Works, NDPS, SNMP, DNS, and DHCP.
6.Full understanding of the provided management tools for NetWare (i.e ConsoleOne, Monitor, Inetcfg, Tcpcon, Ipxcon, Conlog, and related logs provided with the system).
7.Complete comprehension of daily administrative responsibilities (password changes, new account creations, trustee assignments, trouble shooting access issues, etc.
8.Excellent communications skills as this position provides second level direct support for internal customers.
