Mechanical Designer - MDG62-2

MDG62 Mechanical Designer Position Responsibilities: Deliver complete and accurate detailed design drawings as required for fabrication, assembly and installation that meet project requirements and applicable US Codes and Standards. Prepare Bills of Material and determine suitable component parts as new or replacement items in existing designs. Assist in preparation of Custom or Commercial component specifications and drawings. Creates designs that function in a safe manner (OSHA) with optimum cost and reliability. Prepares layouts, sketches, detail and assembly level drawings for machinery designs and equipment as required. Coordinates work efforts with engineers, other designers, and drafters. Develops new design concepts and modifications to existing designs. Determine suitable component selection as new or replacement item in existing designs.
Required Qualifications:Associate's Degree in Mechanical Engineering or Mechanical Engineering Technology, or related degree with a minimum of 5 years design experience in a related manufacturing design environment. Or Bachelors Degree in Mechanical Engineering with a minimum of 2 years of related design experience. Directly related design experience may be considered in lieu of a degree. Proficiency in AutoCAD 14 (or higher) and good mechanical aptitude is required. Required working knowledge includes working familiarity with National Codes and Standards including ANSI Y115B and Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing System; Gen. design principles; Applicable Manuf. process experience ; and Weld designation. Must be organized, technically competent, have effective oral and written communications, experienced in working in a multi-disciplined environment and interfacing with engineers, designers, and drafters.
Desired Qualifications:Experience in the use of standard office software such as Microsoft Office is preferred; proficiency in Access is a plus. A working knowledge of French is a definite plus. Familiarity with encoders, positioning systems, PLC control systems, conveyors and lifts, and automated anufacturing is desired. Experience with powder transportation equipment (vibrating conveyors, hoppers, etc.), drum handling, or gloveboxes design is plus.
