Mechanical Design Packaging Engineer

Assist and cooperate closely with the R&D engineers in developing new products while working as a cross functional engineer between the R&D department and production line.

Perform a variety of engineering work including processes such as part design, part development, tool qualification and process capabilities utilizing SPC methods.

Review drawings and check parts when they come in and then check the final product after manufacturing

Communicate with various departments involving design techniques, processes, and approaches to insure the projects moves forward creatively, strategically, and efficiently.

Provide leadership in developing new products within cost and in the allotted time frame.

Gather, coordinate and apply basic engineering data using established and appropriate or defined engineering principles and procedures.

Work on assignments involving specific parts or components to improve performance and efficiencies, reduce cost and simplify design.

Translate guidance and engineering principles and procedures into usable working direction for assigned projects.

Conducts draft development and prepares budget and estimates for assigned projects.

Recommends cost parameters and technical approaches to be used to accomplish goals.

Confers with VP of Global Packaging on more difficult aspects.

Participates in field research to understand business expectations and consumer perceptions as well as market trends.

Generate mechanical documentation for production; direct assembly of mechanical mockups & prototypes which allows easy revision tracking.

Write clear and easy to follow test procedures for developing, validating and testing design concepts.

Create new product introduction schedule and implemented progressive manufacturing processes.

Maintain an up-to-date customer communication guide to gain updates in design directions, modifications, and/or recommendations.
REQUIREMENTS
Experience in Cosmetic Package Design, Injection Molding, Extrusion, and Compression Molding

Minimum of 3 years working experience in supporting production working towards new and creative ideas in designing cosmetics packaging

Mold design experience is a plus


Degree Required: Bachelors Degree

Level of Travel: Some international travel may be required

Years of Experience: 3 years minimum

Language: Mandarin Chinese is a plus

Certifications: any involved in package design is helpful
