Our Client:
My Client is a 100 year old, very well positioned, highly successful, major U.S. manufacturer of Coal Handling and Conveying Equipment for the Coal and Bulk Material handling industries. Rapid growth requires my Client to add additional Engineering staff to meet the demand for their, state-of-the-art, innovative products.
Responsibilities:
The successful candidate will be responsible for leading, and executing all design and development activities for new products including; planning, managing, analyzing and designing new modifications and applications of Bulk Handling Systems. The Product Development Manager will be responsible for supervising employees engaged in design engineering. The Product Development Manager will hire, train, review work, assist employees, evaluate performance, enforce company rules and policies, and recommend changes in employee status.
-The Product Development Manager will manage new product development engineering projects.
-The Product Development Manager will have the responsibility for improving product quality, manufacturing processing methods.
-The Product Development Manager will manage product development operations and assigned engineering projects, plan, prioritize and monitor projects.
-The Product Development Manager will provide assistance as required to achieve project objectives.
The Product Development Manager will develop department and project budgets and monitor approved budgets.
-The Product Development Manger will direct development of new products and related manufacturing processes through research, design, analysis, alpha/beta testing, pilot and manufacturing support activities.
-The Product Development Manager will manage product development, project scheduling, cost estimating, recommend make/buy decisions and evaluate outside supplies.
-Ensure all personnel have adequate technical training.
-Participate in corporate strategic planning.
-Keep abreast of technical developments related to company products and operations.
-Recommend technical processes and tools including the CAD/CAM system.
-Evaluate and/or establish beta test sites.
-Review to determine necessary changes and initiate change orders for new products in first years of manufacture.
Requirements:
The ideal candidate must have a Bachelor's degree, Mechanical Engineering, with a Master's degree preferred, and a minimum of 3 years design experience and 2 years of supervisory experience in an industrial environment with a similar technical product. Project management experience and excellent communications skills requested. Marketing and/or Product Management experience highly desired. Experience with Solid Works or similar three-dimensional modeling software highly desired. A track record of successful customer interaction requested.
