Manager, Color Laboratory

Purpose and Scope: Responsible for satisfactory color matching of new colors using R&D equipment and distribution of color standards as required on a timely basis.Responsibilities: Provide production ready formulas and technical assistance when needed to facilitate the development of design directed products.
Issue engineered color standards to mills. Assist in color matching and production problem solving. Provide technical guidance to QA personal on an as needed basis.
Monitor production dye lots supplying information to QA.
Maintain up to date records utilizing the CMS, focusing on meeting sample and production schedule time lines to insure that “up front” color work is completed at the mills.
Assist design in assembling color palettes and distributing to relevant parties.
Provide technical assistance. Interpret colors on various substrates as required.
Communicate in correct color language to the mills to accomplish design needs. Guide design when necessary to include correctly engineered colors in Polo Ralph Lauren color stories.
Consult with vendors, as necessary, regarding shade matching issues and dyeing issues.
Maintain communications and business relations with dyestuff, chemical and equipment suppliers.
Make visual adjustments to formulas when unable to match with color instrumentation.
Stay abreast of new developments in the color science industry. REQUIREMENTS
Job Requirements: Bachelors Degree or equivalent work experience.
Must have 3-5 years of color experience.
Must have a general knowledge of fabric and yarn.
Strong communication skills both written and verbal.
Ability to organize large quantities of information and maintain acute data and files.
Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook and PowerPoint.
