Manager, Application Development & Architecture

Manages professional employees and/or supervisors; may manage business support, technical or production staff. The position is on the Managerial/Leadership ladder at level
2.DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Ensures that project staffing and resource needs are met in an assigned area. Ensures project completion on time and within budget.
2. Establishes training and development of staff.
3. Develops processes and procedures to implement functional strategies
4. Sets priorities for the team to ensure task completion; coordinates work activities with other supervisors.
5. Interprets business issues and adapts work priorities in own area.
6. Anticipates and interprets customer needs to identify solutions.
7. Has in-depth expertise in own discipline and knowledge of the related disciplines.
8. Manages budget for own area and allocates resources accordingly.
9. Other duties as required.SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:Responsibilities include career development and coaching, performance management, and pay determination and communication. Job RequirementsMINIMUM KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES REQUIRED:Undergraduate degree in Computer Science or related field. Master's preferred.
Requires 3-4 years of prior management/leadership experience as well as 4-6 years of prior technical experience.
Demonstrated experience leading application and/or systems development teams in a technical support environment.
Pr8ior experience in personnel management and development
Demonstated competency with project management methodologies and tools; project prioritization and coordination; SDLC
Knowledge and experience with quality planning and control, and software release management
Experience creating architectural designs, data warehouses and software development
Demonstrated ability to work effectively witn business constituents and peers
Experiene leading staff through skill transformation (mainframe to open systems).
Experience with process improvement initiatives. Six sigma certification desirable.
