Linux Systems Administrator

Fast Switch is an IT consulting firm serving several Fortune 100 and niche clients at a Tier 1 preferred vendor level. We are currently staffing for top notch consultants for our Detroit, MI territory clients. There are positions in Dearborn and Livonia at this time and they are at least one year contracts.

Act as a Linux SME for the company standard Linux SLES OS load. Responsibilities include: Develop, integrate, test the company standard SLES OS load. Integrate, package and test periodic patch bundles and security patches for SLES8/SLES9 OS loads and develop test cases and documentation for certifying Linux loads and patch bundles. Work with the Software vendors and application teams to resolve integration issues with the Linux loads. Interface with the QA teams to resolve issue during the certification of Linux loads and patch bundles. Provide 3rd level support for Linux OS loads. Responsibilities include - Act as a customer interface for Linux technical issues and research and track Linux 3rd level support issues.
REQUIREMENTS
In-depth knowledge of SuSe SLES Linux operating system. Working experience with Yast installation process. Working experience with SLES Linux patches (RPM updates). Strong working experience in creating RPM packages. Advanced PERL and Shell scripting skill. Understanding of disk storage management concepts (volume groups, logical volumes and filesystems). Working experience with Veritas Foundation Suite (VFS), including DMP, on Linux/Unix. MUST BE a self-starter, capable of working independently and within a team with minimum supervision.

Skills Preferred:
Knowledge of SAN/NAS technologies, Security Tools (HIDS, NIDS, eTrust).

Experience Required:
3+ years working experience with Linux Operating systems. Minimum 3 years of System Administration experience in a large environment. General knowledge of infrastructure technologies like Servers, Network, storage and Systems management Tools.
