Lead Power Design Engineer
Lead Power Design Engineer Our client, a developer of power converters and other electronic equipment, is looking for a Power Supply Design Engineer to join their team. In this position, you will design switch mode power supplies (primarily AC-DC) for their next generation products. This is a full life-cycle role, with you managing your projects from cradle to grave. You'll work with the rest of the team on requirements and from that point on, it will be your baby. This will involve working with manufacturing and field service teams to make sure the products are performing in the real world the way they were intended. You'll have two technicians reporting to you for support and also make sure regulations such as UL and CE are being met. A near-term goal for the organization is to take their products to Europe, so part of your work will focus on ensuring that your systems meet their unique requirements. This position is an opportunity to start off in a highly visible role and to have a real say in the overall direction of the company. It's a smaller organization, with no debt load, and you'll be coming in the door as one of the top people in the organization. There is still room for advancement, though, both in technical and managerial roles. The firm is located in Marshall, MI, which is a small, historic community still within driving range of larger cities such as Battle Creek and Kalamazoo.
REQUIREMENTS
Required expertise: Qualified candidates will have a BSEE (MSEE a plus) and 10+ years of experience in electronic system design. You must be an expert in the area of switch mode power supplies. Beyond your technical abilities, you must have the ability to project manage your own work. It's important that you've worked with regulatory bodies such as UL and CE, plus have some experience with European standards. Most of the work will be analog, but any digital expertise is a strong plus. If you have any patents, that would also be a large bonus.
