Lead Aerothermal Design Engineer

Business Unit: GE Infrastructure, EnergyFunction: Engineering/ Product DevelopmentResponsibilities: - Conceive, develop, & establish the aerothermal design of World Class Low Emissions Combustion Systems considering emissions, operability, performance and customer value.
Conduct predictive thermal heat transfer, emissions, dynamics and combustion performance modeling using 1D and 3D tools including flow network, chemkin, dynamics, acoustics and CFD.
Design combustion systems to meet programs goals related to combustion system and overall Gas Turbine product requirements.
Develop pre-test design predictions and methods to validate and assure the aerothermal performance of combustion systems.
Conduct laboratory and field testing of components and combustion system to validate aerothermal performance.
Interact with GE Combustion community to establish/communicate best practices, latest technical breakthroughs, contributions.
Work with entire Gas Turbine Design team to assure system level approach to meet product goalsThe candidate will have a demonstrated ability to:
Conceive ideas to solve aerothermal design problems.
Evaluate design of hardware and combustion system using experimental and computational techniques.
Effectively work with internal/external Design/Manufacturing teams.
Present detailed durability analyses and life assessments in design reviews.
Meet schedule and deliver high quality analytical work.
Validate designs through lab testing and field hardware review.
REQUIREMENTS
Qualifications: -BS Degree in Engineering or Science.
A minimum of 5 years industrial applications of gas turbine engineering.
Excellent understanding of combustion, emissions, and gas turbine design.
Strong computer skills using MS Office and UNIX operating system.
Demonstrated strong technical skills.
Strong interpersonal and leadership skills.Desired: -Advanced Degree in Mechanical Engineering.
Unigraphics (UG) CAD experience.
Proficiency in programming languages, specifically FORTRAN.
