Java Developer/Designer

By combining your talent and our strengths, we can acheive great results.This role is for a developer to work in one of the application development teams within Fixed Income IT (Banking Products IT - BPIT). The work will cover building and enhancing leading edge, business critical front office sales and trading systems. The applications employ three tier architecture utilising: - Clients: Java, Swing, JSP- Application Server: J2EE compliant- Database: Oracle- Platforms: Windows XP, Linux- Other: CORBA, Messaging, UML, XML, JDBCSome of the key responsibilities of the candidate will include: - Design, documentation and implementation of key software components for the origination, syndication, trading and risk management of commercial loans. Usage of various design patterns and aiding in defining an overall strategic architecture will be vital to succeeding within this role.- Maintenance and development of Client/Server components.- Maintenance and development of web services provided by BPIT.- Creation of technical specification documents and usage of UML and associated development methodologies.- The developer will spend time designing and developing middleware communication protocols, working closely with architecture teams.- Performance analysis and tuning- Participation in technical strategic decisions- Liaison with other development and infrastructure teams- Liaison with the business community to understand their processes and principles The BPIT environment currently consists of various disparate systems so there will be a great deal of focus on this role, in order for us to achieve our integration aspirations.This role is for a person who is capable of developing business-critical software in an environment that requires flexibility and high productivity.Key Targets & Objectives of RolesClient Develop software by extending existing systems. Support less experienced staff by providing technical support and product knowledge.
