J2EE/SOA Architect
The Candidate will be required to provide technical leadership, technical architecture, design, development and support for Transamerica Life LTC J2EE/SOA environment. In addition to architecting and building critical applications and services, this role will be instrumental in creating the technical roadmap, architectural frameworks, reference models, and standards & procedures for the J2EE and SOA environments.
Bring an enthusiastic approach, foster collaboration amongst the team and across other teams. Encourage creative ideas for solving complex business & technical problems.Provides technical guidance and counsel to project teams to help make effective use of appropriate technologies and ensure alignment to the IT Architecture and SOA enterprise service reuse. Coordinate with other Technical Architects, Developers, and Business Analyst on the planning & implementation of new features and enhancements.Maintains expertise in the area of architecture, including industry trends, strategies, and products to ensure the company assets are effectively and efficiently utilized.
Make recommendations for platform and software selection and identify risks across projects as necessary.
PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Develops project architecture, components, specifications, reviews and provides quality assurance of project deliverables produced by an assigned project team.Developing the Divisional Architecture Artifacts, Standards, Processes, Tools & TechniquesEmployee development & mentoring of junior staff members.Actively leads multi-discipline IT team throughout the complete lifecycle of assigned projects.Possesses and develops a strong knowledge of LTC processes and offers strategic guidance for new systems and enhancements to IT processes and systems.Provides recommendations regarding acquisition of hardware, software, and consulting services in support of business projects and opportunities.Assists as needed in project/problem resolution

• Participate in all phases of development for enhancements and project work.
• Provide Systems Analysis by reviewing business requirements and translating them into clearly defined detailed requirements for developers
• Strong application development experience with the a wide range of technologies and techniques such as JAVA, J2EE, JSP, XML, HTML, Websphere, UML, Service Bus, BPEL, WSDL, SOAP, JSF, Swing, Ajax, SQL Server 2005, Portals, WS-*• Knowledgeable about design patterns
• Experience with web services• Experience in architecting enterprise class systems for security, scalability, availability, maintainability.• Experience with Model Driven Development
• Must be able to provide technical direction to developers at all levels.• Ability to analyze data and make recommendations on technical and business topics.Typical background and experience required for competent performance in this job.
• College degree preferred or equivalent business experience• 7 - 9 years business experience required, insurance business preferred• 3 - 4 years leading architecture and design for complex projects
• Proficiency in IT related concepts in a multi platform environment
• Industry certification preferred
• Experience managing large-scale IT projects
• Proven Leadership Skills required
• Solid skills in Systems Analysis and Detail Design, with experience in all phases of one or more Development Methodologies.
• Knowledge of Insurance Compliance (SOX, HIPAA, OFAC, etc)
