We are looking for a designer to join our team as we build and maintain our world class news web site, which attracts an audience of millions every day. Our ideal candidate is in tune with current events, and will be integral to building feature packages with a heavy emphasis on tone and topic. He/She will also be a key component in larger scale redesign projects, helping with strategies on translating packages into the newer designs, as well as updating the look-and-feel, branding, and visual treatments.

Creativity

• Grounded in design fundamentals including composition, color theory, typography, identity systems, concept development and motion design.

• Designs and executes graphical interface treatments for on-line products resulting in clean, tight, screen designs.

• Works with Art Director and Sr. Designers to create and design visual treatments that meet client specifications.

• Uses knowledge associated with Bachelor?s Degree in design or equivalent experience.

• Possesses a broad understanding of interface design.

Technical Excellence

• Minimum of 2-4 years directly related experience including screen and interface design. Experience with product design is beneficial, but not required.

• Understands and effectively uses design tools and applications such as Adobe Creative Suite, Macromedia Studio, etc.

• Understands the importance of web site performance and is motivated to design for extreme optimization.

• Identify, address and solve technical problems as they relate to interface, screen design and/or the web. Designs what can be built with relevant publishing systems.
