Job Responsibilities
Instructional Designer - Assess and define training and performance needs of client population. Conduct training needs assessment for client population. Design courses using interactive, online learning models, implementing adult learning principles to deliver training in an effective manner. Select and use a variety of techniques for determining instructional content and strategies. Create a design document that specifies learning objectives, measures of student learning, learning materials design specifications, and learning impact (e.g. business results). Create storyboards, scripts, course content (including simulations and blended eLearning solutions) and student directions. Program or direct programming of web-based training for interactive multimedia delivery; Evaluate the effectiveness of courseware. Evaluate and assess instruction and its impact. Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of the training curriculum by creating and implementing measures to track outcomes and ensure alignment to business objectives. Plan and manage instructional design projects
Design/develop training materials to educate users on the correct way to operate applications to support business processes
Research, design, develop, implement, and modify more advanced, customized, or original curriculum materials that involve using instructional design methodology
Perform all phases in the training life cycle, which may include instructor-led training, presentations/classes, project leadership responsibilities, coordinating and leveraging subject matter experts for multiple and complex solutions
Gain an understanding of DSTs products and services and develop appropriate course curriculum and materials for both internal and external training needs
Responsible for training administration tasks: planning, scheduling, coordinating, and tracking training sessions inclusive of training records management and oversight
Understand business strategy and translate into learning solutions to support the client populationQualifications
Qualifications
Demonstrated instructional design and development skills including needs analysis, and systematic instructional design processes, graphic design and visual support, evaluation, and impact assessment
Demonstrate ability to apply adult learning principles
Demonstrate problem-identification, problem-reporting and problem solving skills in working with computer technology
Advanced experience with instructional design tools
Familiar with developing internet and eLearning technologies
Project and time management skills-managing multiple priorities
Ability to think clearly, write concisely and communicate effectively, including being able to explain technical concepts in non-technical terms
Good interpersonal, influencing and negotiating skills
Must perform effectively in a team environment
Must have excellent written and oral communication skills
Preferred Education: Advanced degree in Instructional Design, Instructional Technology, Training and Development, or related field and a minimum of five years’ corporate training and development experience
