Instructional Design and Development Specialist

The successful candidate will be responsible primarily for the design and development of training programs that increase job knowledge, develop skills and influence behavior. These programs focus on managerial and leadership development, strategic and tactical implementations, and personal growth and development. The Instructional Design and Development Specialist will design and develop modules utilizing a variety of delivery methods, primarily instructor-led, but also using on-line or web-based techniques. The Designer will be responsible for the content presentation, exercises, support materials, job aids and all program elements. The position will also work with the entire Employee Development organization to develop facilitator’s guides and prepare our Corporate Trainers to successfully deliver the programs. The Designer will be a key participant in our efforts to continuously improve and enhance the existing programs, through the incorporation of new concepts, materials, examples and exercises. The Instructional Design and Development Specialist will be involved in decisions regarding the implementation of new training courses or modules. The target audience for the majority of our programs includes individual contributors, supervisors, managers and business unit leaders. The results expected are improved performance of learners consistent with, and contributing to, the attainment of corporate goals and objectives as well as improved individual capability.

Requirements: Bachelor’s degree or equivalent and 5+ years of directly related experience in designing and developing courseware for corporate training programs with a varied audience. Demonstrated ability to design, develop and maintain materials and learning tools using accepted instructional design methodologies. Excellent writing skills, including grammar, spelling and punctuation, must be demonstrated. Excellent interpersonal skills, training, platform skills and the ability to champion new ideas and programs are a must. Advanced skills are required with Microsoft Office products, specifically PowerPoint, Word and Excel. Additional software or media skills related to course design are expected. Candidate must be willing and able to work in a collaborative setting with a diverse group of other trainers, developers and subject matter experts.

Preferences: Instructional design certification or degree preferred. Proficiency in project management skills (including MS Project) is helpful. Experience with utilizing learning management systems and on-line training is beneficial.
