Job Description:
Position Purpose
The SAP Solutions Architect is responsible for the design, implementation and lifecycle management of technology architectures and application architectures that support SAP application systems. The Architect is responsible for identifying and implementing technology and application solution designs and delivering sustainable, cost-effective business applications based on industry and business research. This position is to focus on the customer facing solutions for various Home Depot Supply businesses in the home building and wholesale distribution industry.
The Architect is responsible for the design, implementation and lifecycle management of technology architectures and application architectures that support one or more application systems. The Architect is responsible for identifying and implementing technology and application solution designs and delivering sustainable, cost-effective business applications based on industry and business research. This position is also responsible for implementation and oversight of sustaining technology governance processes and associated teaching and mentoring of Business and IT Associates in proper use of the technology and application base.


Major Tasks, Responsibilities and Key Accountabilities
Lead design, development, and deployment of technical and application solutions to meet business requirements that are cost effective and sustainable. Deliver conceptual, logical, and physical solution specifications.
Translate business requirements using complex methods and models to determine appropriate system solutions.
Provide input into annual budget planning for technology migrations and project cost estimation.
Research, identify, test, certify, and select technology products required for solution delivery.
Establish and implement technology migration strategies for a specific application or architecture within an IT portfolio.
Lead technology review meetings and ensure appropriate governance processes are followed.


Nature and Scope
Typically reports to Senior Architect, Senior Manager, or Director.
No associates report to this role on a permanent basis, but requires the leadership of a work group: assign and review work, train and contribute to performance appraisal (but not hiring, firing or disciplinary action).


Environmental Job Requirements
Located in a comfortable indoor area. Any unpleasant conditions would be infrequent and not objectionable.
Typically requires overnight travel less than 10% of the time.


Preferred Qualifications
2-3 full lifecycle SAP implementation experience including an in-depth understanding of SAP integration and ASAP methodology required.
Deep Functional SAP configuration experience with one or more of the following process areas: CRM, Variant Configuration, Sales and Distribution, Pricing and Billing, and Real Estate Management.
8-10 years of related SAP experience in a project leadership role and a BS in Computer Science or related field. MS/MBA a plus.
Functional experience in home building industry or wholesale distribution industry a plus.
Candidate will possess experience in project planning and execution and business process improvement.
Ability to translate complex business and technical problems into easily understood solution approaches.
Detail-Oriented.
Strong communications skills needed include cross-team/user relationships, written and oral communication. Must have the ability to work in a highly matrixed environment.
10 years of related experience.
Masters Degree.

Education Required
The knowledge, skills and abilities typically acquired through the completion of a Bachelor's Degree program or equivalent degree in a field of study related to the job.
Years of Relevant Work Experience - 9
