Graphics Designer/ Web Developer
This is an entry level/intermediate position. As a Web and Graphic Designer with My Design Firm you will work closely with the creative director developing advertising campaigns, web sites and basic creative work on a daily basis.
The position is responsible for the timely completion of all external and internal web, electronic and print graphic projects including the graphical design and maintenance of corporate websites, print advertisements, on-line banners, Flash animations and presentations, and the creation of collateral material including brochures, direct mail, and trade show booth signage. The Graphics Designer works as part of a collaborative team to manage multiple concurrent assignments and meet project deadlines.
REQUIREMENTS
Design and maintain multiple corporate Internet and Intranet web sites, and pages, including maintaining an accurate site map, updating pages on a daily basis as needed, testing pages for various browsers and computer video standards, proof-reading current and new pages, and maintain a consistent design and look. The graphics designer will most likely work on the company web sites each day.
• Research best practices and maintain web page search engine optimization in conjunction with product management and directors. The goal would be to have key search terms for each product on the 1st two pages of popular search engines.
• Maintain web site directories and back ups of each web site and all graphics. Perform back ups to corporate hard drive weekly.
• Edit collateral, direct mail, print advertisements, electronic images, create banner ads, Flash animations, reseller graphics, collateral, power point backgrounds, PDF Files, trade show graphics, etc. It is estimated that the Graphics Designer will need to create or update, on average, one such graphic a day.
• As instructed by the Marketing Director, work with sales and marketing teams to help create ad-hoc collateral and PDFs to be used as sales support materials. Normally one such item is needed each month.
• Work with sales support and marketing department to negotiate, order, send proper files and schedule delivery of printed materials including sales collateral, folders, reprints, envelopes and letterhead, cards and other items used by the company. Ongoing – printed material should be ordered, proofed, and delivered in a timely fashion with little or no errors.
• Work with marketing to research, negotiate, design and order specialty advertising items. Normally done four times a year.
• Participate as needed as a company representative at trade shows and special events. Help set up and break down booth, gather leads, answer questions or redirect questions to appropriate personnel. Maintain an accurate record of expenses. 2 – 3 times a year.
What You Bring to the Table:
The ideal candidate is a recent graduate majoring in Graphic Design. A portfolio of graphic projects, which may include internship activities, is required. Experience with technology products including Flash, Adobe Dreamweaver, Photoshop, Illustrator is a must. Some experience with active server pages would be a helpful.
