Developer/Programmer with a solid understanding of Java/J2EE and a strong desire to learn new technologies -- Our New York City financial client has an outstanding opportunity for a Java Developer with a strong desire to learn new technologies and be part of a small development group that supports the server-side applications for the company. The ideal candidate has a solid foundation in Java, has worked on J2EE applications and used ANT scripting language. You will be one of four developers involved in the development process from conception to design, development and production support. The Java Developer will also have the responsibility of interacting heavily with the end users and other developers to gather and document requirements. Excellent communication skills are a MUST. This is an opportunity to be a key contributor to the development and support of existing and future applications for the company.

RESPONSIBILITIES:
The Java Developer/Programmer will provide full support for all assigned application systems. System support includes, but is not limited to: problem resolution (business and non-business hours); user support; and system maintenance. Assist the project manager and end users in identifying and recommending automated solutions to business problems.
The Java Developer/Programmer will assist in the evaluation and implementation of vendor-supplied solutions.
The Java Developer/Programmer will provide assistance and direction to other developers, as required.
The Java Developer/Programmer will support and monitor the application development infrastructure.
The Java Developer/Programmer will provide assistance, as requested, to support the implementation of Enterprise Architecture
REQUIREMENTS
REQUIREMENTS:

BA/BS in business or computer science preferred.
Knowledge of Sybase ASE and Microsoft SQL Server.
Knowledge of UNIX and Windows.

Communicates clearly and concisely.

Ability to train and mentor more junior software developers.

Strong knowledge of and experience working within a J2EE standards environment

Strong knowledge of JAVA

Strong knowledge of ANT scripting language

Experience designing business solutions using Object Oriented design techniques

Experience with PowerBuilder development is a plus
