Engineering Designer

Our Electronics and Avionics Systems (EAS) Product Line specializes in the design, development, production and integration of complex electronic systems. EAS is seeking an Engineering Designer in Columbus, Ohio for full time regular shift work. Compensation will be based on qualifications and experience. A full benefits package will be provided.

The selected candidate will be based in Columbus, Ohio. The primary job responsibilities will include:
Provide conceptual and developmental Printed Wire Board (PWB) design support for use in conjunction with Battelle projects
Assist research staff in the investigation, procurement of data and calculations required to develop PWB designs
Provide graphics and drawings contributing to proposals and project reports
Analyze engineering proposals and related data to assist in determining the feasibility of proposed designs, identification of potential prototype fabrication issues and known manufacturing problems relative to PWB designs
Develop final design in conjunction with research task leaders assuring that all engineering drawings and related documents conform to design/drafting standards, design specifications and configuration management principles
Assist in the selection of materials and components including interaction with vendors and the preparation of PWB procurement documentation
Maintain an awareness of, and works in accordance with, the appropriate Quality System (e.g. ISO 9001:2000) while identifying any potential improvements for this system
Maintain appropriate awareness of technological developments in the PWB design field
Assist in the establishment of library standards, procedures and routines to handle multiple libraries and component data management
Create and maintain a database of component models for simulation using IBIS and/or SPICE data structures
Ensure any reported problems/queries from sources, both internal and external of the company, relating to schematic symbols and PCB cells are addressed to ensure appropriate corrective action is taken where required
Maximize the use of CAD applications and be pro-active in solving technical issues for providing fast cycle times and quality results with a "first time right attitude"

Additionally, the selected candidate will be expected to be able to travel frequently, often with little notice.
REQUIREMENTS


Candidate resumes must demonstrate the following minimum requirements in order to be forwarded for consideration:

* Minimum 3 years related experience and Bachelor's degree in an engineering field or an Associate technology degree and 8 years related experience
* Must have experience in conceptualization design requirements and be able to transform requirements into a feasible design based on both verbal, visual, and written information under moderate supervision
* Should have knowledge of types of materials and components required by the design
* Proficient in using EDA, PADS, DxDesigner, and AutoCAD software tools
* Able to work independently or as part of a design team
* Self motivated and capable of managing time effectively
* Extremely flexible and capable of multi-tasking with great efficiency
* Strong communication and documentation skills
* Sole U.S. citizenship, with the ability to obtain and maintain required government security clearances as a condition of employment

Additional selection criteria will include: Working knowledge of ANSY-Y-32.2 American National Standard for Graphic Symbols for Electrical and Electronic Diagrams. Working knowledge of PWB documentation and drawing packages for military applications. Certified Interconnect Designer (CID). Working knowledge of IPC standards Experienced in Design for Manufacturability (DFM). Currently holds or has held a DoD secret clearance.
